HORSEBACK
SAFARIS
This is safari of its own kind as riding on horseback through
woodland and vast savanna plains and stopping at a watering area
to watch wild animals quenching their thirst yet being completely
accepted and appreciated, as part of the local wildlife is an
experience not to be missed out on. Sightings of giraffe, elephant,
buffalo and antelope herds characterise the experience. Predators
are often seen on horseback and in this case, a safe distance
is maintained for the comfort of both parties. Ostrich, crowned
cranes and secretary birds amongst other birds tend to ignore
the presence of the horse party and this allows for unusually
close interactions.
Horseback safaris through areas of high wildlife concentration
and remote wilderness are available in Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
These vary in length from a ride out for morning, afternoon or
a full day to few night excursions, while overnighting in pre-erected
tented camps.
