PHOTOGRAPHIC
SAFARIS
Capturing and freezing a wild moment while on an African safari
is highly rewarding as often one can cherish these moments for
years. Africa is blessed with amongst the highest concentrations
and diversity of wildlife in the world and with its friendly
climate it lends itself to being a top photography destination.
Photographic interest safaris are tailored to take travelers
through remote areas of high wildlife concentrations awarding
them rare opportunities to practice their interest or profession.
A skeleton day on a photographic safari often starts early with
a morning excursion by means dependant on the area. After a light
breakfast we head out at first light as the sunrise marks the
beginning of “another day in Africa”. These mornings
are usually eventful as we observe the nocturnal wildlife winding
down to rest and their diurnal relatives getting active. In the
warmer hours of the day guests can choose to view their images
in the comfort of the camp, game drive or find a waterhole or
hide to sit and observe midday interactions. Full day outings
are common on a photographic safari. After hours of afternoon
light photography and an African sunset the day does not stop.
Reviewing the images of the day in the way of a mini photo workshop,
discussing and sharing ideas on how to improve on images and
planning the next day happens in safety of the camp in the evening.
On some evenings we “play around” with the night
skies trying to capture our movement in the galaxies with long
shutter openings. All of these possibilities fill up the day
and shape the next as we go through the different wildlife areas.
Photographic safaris can be tailored to journey through Botswana,
Namibia, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe for the different highlights
that these countries have to offer.
